CHAPTER 40.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the "Me-
chanicsville and Finksburg Turnpike Com-
pany" of Carroll county to borrow money
and issue promissory notes, bonds or other
evidences of indebtedness, and secure the
payment of same by mortgage.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the "Mechanics-
ville and Finksburg Turnpike Company" of

Carroll county is hereby authorized and em-
powered to borrow money and issue promis-
sory notes, bonds or other evidences of indebt-
edness for the same, and to execute a mort-
gage or mortgages on the Mechanicsville and
Finksburg Turnpike Road, or any other, or all
of the property of said Company, to secure the
payment of said promissory notes, bonds, or
evidences of indebtedness.

secure loans.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 41.
AN ACT to repeal section five of chapter four
hundred and sixty-two, of the acts passed
at the January session, eighteen hundred and
seventy-eight, entitled an act to enable the
qualified voters of certain election districts
of Dorchester county to determine by ballot
whether spirituous or fermented liquors
shall be sold in said districts, or a license
granted for sale of the same therein, and to
re-enact the same with additional penalties.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That section five of chap-
