five cents, the expense to be paid by the owner
or occupier of the premises; and any owner
or occupier shall have the privilege of re-
placing any number-plate so furnished with
another, provided the same number be re-
tained.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That any person who
shall refuse to permit the number-plate so-
placed on his premises by the County Com-

missioners, to be and remain thereon, or who
shall alter, deface or remove such number-
plate except as therein provided, shall forfeit
and pay a fine of ten dollars for every such
offence, to be recovered as other fines are di-
rected to be recovered by law.

SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County
Commissioners of Caroline County to levy on.
the assessable property of Caroline county
a sum sufficient to pay Dr.William H.Downes
and Dr. Griffin W. Goldsborough, Dr. George
W. Betson and Dr. Alexander Hardcastle, for
their services as expert witnesses for the
State of Maryland against Frances Belle
Beauchamp.
