CHAPTER 255.
AN ACT to repeal section fourteen of article
forty-three of the Code of Public General
Laws, entitled "Habeas Corpus," and to re-
enact the same with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-

sembly of Maryland, That section fourteen of
article forty-three of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, entitled "Habeas Corpus" be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so
as to read as follows :
SEC. 14. No person who shall have been de-
livered upon a habeas corpus, shall afterwards
be imprisoned or committed for the same

Repealed and
re-enacted.

offence otherwise than by the order or process
of the Court wherein he or she shall be bound
by recognizance to appear, or some other Court
having jurisdiction of the cause, or upon sur-
render by his or her bail.

Release on
habeas corpus,
permanent.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 256.
AN ACT to encourage Manufactures in the
city of Cumberland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the Mayor and City
Council of Cumberland be and they are hereby
empowered to levy for the years eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-six and eighteen hundred and
eighty-seven, at the time of making the an-
