late Sheriff of Prince George's county, for the
sum of fifteen dollars, being amount of over-
payment into the Treasury of the State of
Maryland by said Scaggs, in the settlement
of his accounts, the passage of this bill hav-
ing been recommended by the officers of the
Treasury Department of this State.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 158.
AN ACT authorizing and directing the County
Commissioners of Prince George's county
to pay George C. Merrick for legal services
rendered by order of the Court.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the County Com-
missioners of Prince George's county be and
they are hereby authorized and directed to levy
for the use of George C. Merrick, at their first

levy-laying term after the passage of this act
such additional amount over and above what
he may have already received as the services
may be reasonably worth, and said County
Commissioners may deem just and proper for
the defense of Isaac Coats and John Butler,
tried and acquitted in the Circuit Court of
said county, said services having been rendered
by order of the Court.
