Repealed and
re-enacted.

dred and seventy-two, as repealed and re-
uuacted, amended by chapter eighty-six of
the acts of the General Assembly of eighteen
hundred and seventy-six, in relation to the
charter of Keedyville, Washington county, be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, amended, so as to read as follows :
SECTION 17. The said Burgess and Commis-
sioners shall not levy any general tax for
leveling or laying pavements before any house
or improved lands within the limits of the
corporation, but may levy a general tax for
the purpose of making or keeping in repairs
stepping stones and crossings, and fixing
and repairing all public alleys; and pro-
vided, a majority vote be first had in accor-
dance with the ordinances of said corporation,

may levy a general tax for the erection of a
building, or the purchase of some suitable
place for a lockup; for the building of foot-
ways or bridges over the waters of the town ;
for the erection of street lamps; for the buil-
ding of a town hall; for the gra ding of all
new streets; and for making pavements along
unimproved lands or water, and for any other
public improvements.
