CHAPTER 150.
AN ACT to provide for a State subscription to
Riley's History of Annapolis.
WHEREAS it has been the policy of the State
of Maryland in recent years, to encourage the

|
|
|
editing and compilation of its history, and by
accident and inattention to our records, much
valuable historical material has been lost, and
|

WHEREAS to save further loss of our archives,
all proper efforts to preserve our State's his-
tory ought to be encouraged; and
|

|
WHEREAS Elihu S. Riley is now engaged in
editing and compiling a history of Annapolis,
and the Annals of Annapolis for a century of
their records, are a history of Maryland, and
have always been closely connected with the
progress of the State; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That a subscription to
one thousand copies, at one dollar per copy, is

hereby made to Riley's History of Annapolis ;
provided, however, that the said work shall
receive the approval of the Governor, Chief
Justice of the Court of Appeals and the State
Librarian.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That upon the written
approval of the work by the Governor, Chief
Justice of the Court of Appeals and State
Librarian, and the certificate of the State
Librarian that said one thousand copies of
said history have been delivered to him, the
