LAWS OF MARYLAND.


SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the
company shall have power to mine, import
and export, buy and sell guanos and other
fertilizers in their crude and manufactured

to import, export, buy and sell goods, wares
and merchandise of any description whatever;
also to receive in payment for the said ferti-
lizers or other goods, wares and merchandise,
money, or in lieu thereof, guano or other fer-
tilizers, agricultural products, notes of hand or
other acknowledgments of indebtedness; also,
the said company shall have power to hold
mining rights, real and leasehold property,
and any easements therein in this State or
elsewhere, for the purposes of carrying on the
business of mining, manufacturing or dealing'
in guanos or other fertilizers; also, to borrow
money and to pledge for the security of the
same, any property, real, personal or mixed,
that it may possess by way of mortgage or in
any other way not contrary to law; also, to
hold real or leasehold property in this State

not exceeding one hundred thousand dollars
in value; in addition thereto, to take and
hold mortgages on property real, personal or
mixed, in this State or elsewhere, for the
purpose of securing antecedent debts due to
the said company, or for the purpose of secur-
ing the payment for fertilizers or other goods,

company shall have the right and power to
charter and own such ships and other vessels

fertilizers and other goods, wares and merchan-
dise in which said company may deal; also, to
transport such other goods as they may see
proper to carry for other persons or corpora-
