CHAPTER 95.

AN ACT for the better protection of persons
and property in Brooklyn, Anne Arundel
county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the County Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel county be and
they are hereby authorized and required on
the first day of May, in every other year, to
appoint two policemen for the better protec-

said policemen and make such rules and regu-
lations for their proper government and disci-
pline as they may deem best to promote the
efficiency of the above named officers.
SEC. 2. And lie it enacted, That it shall be
the duty of said policemen at all times of the

day and night to preserve the public peace,
prevent crime, and protect the rights of per-
sons and property, and to arrest all offenders
against the laws of the State, and to take such
offenders to the nearest Justice of the Peace
for said county, and to this end shall have all
the power and authority of county Constables.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the pay of

each policeman shall be one dollar and fifty
cents per day; all pay-rolls to be made out
and certified as required by the said County
Commissioners.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the County

Levy.
|
Commissioners of Anne Arundel county shall
levy annually a sum sufficient to pay said
policemen and all necessary and proper ex-
penses not to exceed the sum of twelve hun-
dred dollars in any one levy.

|
Effective.
|
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
