AN ACT to provide for an audit of the county finances
|
|
|
|
of Dorchester county.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That the judges of the first judicial
|
|
|
|
circuit of Maryland, in which is embraced Dorchester
|
|
|
|
county, and in event of any change in said circuit the
|
|
|
|
judge or judges presiding over the circuit court for
|
|
|
|
said county be and they are hereby authorized and
|
|
|
|
directed to appoint a special auditor for the circuit
|

court of said county, who shall be an expert book-

itor.

|
keeper, whose duties shall be as hereinafter specified
|
|
|
|
in this act; the first appointment shall be made im-
|
|
|
|
mediately upon the passage of this act, and at the
|
|
|
|
April term of said court, in the year eighteen hundred
|
|
|
|
and eighty-six, and every second year thereafter, and
|
|
|
|
the auditor so appointed to hold over until his suc-
|
|
|
|
cessor be duly appointed and qualified as by this act
|
|
|
|
provided; and in event of the death, resignation, re-
|
|
|
|
moval from the county, or other disqualification of
|
|
|
|
any auditor so appointed and qualified, it shall be the
|
|
|
|
duty of said judges to supply the vacancy so caused at
the next ensuing term of their said court by the ap-

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the auditor when

|
|
|
appointed as aforesaid, shall qualify by taking an oath
|
|

before the clerk of said court, that he will obey the
|
|
|
|
Constitution of the United States and of the state of
|
|
|
|
Maryland, and the laws passed in pursuance thereof,
|

and will execute the duties attached to his said office
|
|
|
|
to the best of his ability fairly-and impartially, and with-
|
|
|
|
out favor, partiality or prejudice; it shall be the duty of
