Chapter 306.

|
|
AN ACT to incorporate the " Worcester Citizens
|
|
|
|
Bank," in Snow Hill, Worcester county, Maryland.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That Lovi A. Purnell, George W. Cov-
|
|
|
|
ington, Ladok F. Wharton, John W. Smith, George
|
|
|
|
W. Bishop, George M. Upshur, John A. Herrman, B.
Jones Taylor, Thomas M. Purnell and Clayton J.
|
Constituted a
body corporate.
|
|
|
Purnellj and their successors in office, be and they are
|
|
|
|
hereby constituted and made a body corporate and
|
|
|
|
politic, under the name and style of " Worcester Citi-
|
|
|
|
zens Bank."
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said corporation,
|
|
|
|
under the above name and style, is hereby made able
|
|
|
|
and capable in law to sue and bo sued, plead and be
|
|
|
|
impleaded, answer and be answered, defend and be
|

defended in courts of record or any other place whatso-
|
poration.

|
|
ever; to make, have and use a common seal, and the
|
|
|
|
same to break, alter and renew at their pleasure, and
|
|
|
|
generally to do and execute all and singular such acts,
|
|
|
|
matters and things as a corporation or body politic
|
|
|
|
may and can lawfully execute.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of
|
|
|
|
the "Worcester Citizens Bank," intended to be created
|
|
|
|
by this act, shall be fifty thousand dollars, in shares of
|
|
|
|
fifty dollars each; five dollars shall be paid on each
|
|
|
|
share of the stock at the time of subscribing, and the
|
|
|
|
remainder as the board of directors may determine

and require; and privilege is hereby given to said cor-

poration to increase the capital stock to one hundred
|
|
|
|
thousand dollars by new subscriptions, or by adding
|
|
|
|
to the said capital, semi-annually, a portion of its net

profits, not otherwise appropriated, whenever it shall
|
|
|
|
be so determined by the board of directors.

|
|
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the persons named
|
|
|
|
in the first section of this act be and they are hereby
|
|
|
|
appointed commissioners to receive subscriptions to
the capital stock of the said corporation, and they, or
|
|
|
|
a majority of them, may cause books to be opened at
