Chapter 344.
|
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to provide for a state subscription to
|
|
|
|
|
Brantly's annonated edition of the Law and Equity
|
|
|
|
|
Reports of Maryland.
|
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS the greater part of the original edition
|
|
|
|
|
of the Law and Equity Reports of Maryland, prior to
|
|
|
|
|
the year eighteen hundred and fifty one, is out of
|
|
|
|
|
print; and whereas most of the courts of this state
|
|
|
|
|
are not provided with copies of the said reports; and
|
|
|
|
|
whereas no sets of the said reports arc now in the
|
Preamble.
|
|
|
|
state library available for distribution; and whereas
|
|
|
|
|
a new annonated edition of the said reports is now
|
|
|
|
|
being published, which edition has been commended
|
|
|
|
|
by a majority of the judges of the court of appeals,
|
|
|
|
|
by a majority of the associate judges of the circuit
|
|
|
|
|
courts, and by a majority of the judges of the supreme
|
|
|
|
|
bench of Baltimore city.
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That the state librarian be and he is
|
|
|
|
|
hereby authorized and directed to subscribe in the
|
Librarian to
subscribe.
|
|
|
|
name of the state for one hundred sets of Brantly's
|
|
|
|
|
new annonated edition of the thirty-four volumes of
|
|
|
|
|
the Law Reports of Maryland, from first Harris and
|
|
|
|
|
McHenry to ninth Gill, inclusive, and of the seven
|
|
|
|
|
volumes of Eland's and Johnson's Chancery Decisions,
|
|
|
|
|
the whole to be comprised in twenty-one or twenty-
|
|
|
|
|
two volumes, at not more than four dollars and
|
|
|
|
|
seventy-nine cents per volume, and upon the delivery
|
|
|
|
|
of one hundred copies of each of the said twenty-one
|
|
|
|
|
volumes to the state library, the librarian shall issue
|
|
|
|
|
a certificate of the receipt thereof, and upon the
|
|
|
|
|
presentation of such certificates, and also a certificate
|
|
|
|
|
of approval from the attorney general, the comptroller
|
Issue warrant.
|
|
|
|
of the treasury is hereby directed to issue his warrant
|
|
|
|
|
for the sum of four hundred and seventy-nine dollars,
|
|
|
|
|
and the treasurer shall thereupon pay the said sum to
|
|
|
|
|
the publisher of the said edition.
|
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the librarian shall
|
|
|
|
|
distribute one copy of the said edition to each one of
|

the circuit and orphan's courts of this state, and to
|
distribute.
|
|
|
|
each of the courts of Baltimore city, and that the
|
|
|
|
|
remaining copies shall be kept in the state library.

|
|
