appraisement of such animals as shall have been

slaughtered, in favor of the said owner or owners.

SEC 7. And be it enacted, That whenever, in the
|
|
|
|
judgment of said veterinary inspector, animals which
|
|
|
|
have been exposed to any infectious or contagious dis-
|
|
|
|
eases cannot be safely quarantined or isolated, so as to
|
|
|
|
prevent the spread of such infection or contagion, he
|
|
|
|
may, with the consent of the governor, cause such
|
|
|
|
animals to be appraised and slaughtered, and the
|
|
|
|
comptroller shall pay the owner of such animals their
|
|
|

full appraised value, when such appraisement shall

slaughtered.

have been approved by the governor; provided, how-
|
|
|
|
ever, that if the owner or owners of such animals or
|
|
|
|
buildings shall not be satisfied with said appraisement,
|
|
|
|
he or they may, within sixty days, appeal to the cir-
|
|
|
|
cuit court of the county, or to the Baltimore city
|
|
|
|
court, if such animals or buildings are within the city
|
|
|
|
of Baltimore, which appeals shall be acted on by said
|
|
|
|
court in the same manner as appeals from justices of
|
|
|
|
the peace.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That all the necessary
|
|
|
|
expenses incurred under the direction or by the au-
|
|
|
|
thority of the governor in carrying out the provisions
|
|
|
|
of this act, including the salary and traveling expenses
|
|
|
|
of said veterinary inspector, shall not exceed the sum
|
|
|

of ten thousand dollars in any two years, and the sum

necessary, is hereby appropriated to be applied as herein
directed under the order or orders of the governor; and

the comptroller is hereby directed to issue his warrant

upon the treasurer for such sums as he may be re-

quired upon any order of the governor as aforesaid.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That in the event of the
|
|
|

outbreak of an epidemic or contagious and infectious

|
