Chapter 14.

AN ACT to provide additional employees for the
|
|
|
|
|
General Assembly of Maryland for the session 1884,
|
|
|
|
|
and to appropriate a sum of money to pay the same.
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That there shall be appointed by the
|
|
|
|
|
President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House
|
|
|
|
|
of Delegates, the following officers : One policeman,
|
|
|
|
|
one keeper of the water closets, two keepers of the cloak
|
|
|
|
Additional
|
rooms, one for the Senate and one for the House of
|
|
|
|
officers
|
Delegates, and one clerk to the Committee on Library,
|
|
|
|
|
for the session of the General Assembly for eighteen
|
|
|
|
|
hundred and eighty-four, provided that the appoint-
|
|
|
|
|
ment of clerk to the Library Committee, so to be
|
|
|
|
|
named, shall be made on the nomination of the Com-
|
|
|
|
|
mittee on Library.
|
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the pay of the offi-
|
|
|
|
|
cers, to be appointed as above provided, shall be five
|
|
|
|

|
dollars per day from the day upon which they are
|
|
|
|
|
sworn in until the end of the session.
|
|
|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the sum of fifteen
|
|
|
|
|
hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be neces-
|
|
|
|
|
sary, is hereby appropriated, and the sum of two hun-
|
|
|
|
|
dred and twenty-five dollars is hereby appropriated to .
|
|
|
|
|
pay James D. Powell, messenger to the printer and
|
|
|
|

mail carrier of the senate; and the sum of one hun-
|
|
|
|
|
dred and eighty dollars is hereby appropriated to pay
|
|
|
|
|
John T. Tall, folder of the senate, for their services
|
|
|
|
|
at the present session of the senate, the amounts
|
|
|
|
|
specified being necessary to equalize their compensa-
|
|
|
|
|
tion with that of the officers of the same rank in the
|
|
|
|
|
house of delegates.
|
|
|
|
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the treasurer of
|
|
|
|
|
the state shall, on the warrant of the comptroller of
|
|
|

the treasury, disburse the money appropriated as

|
|
aforesaid upon the order of the chairman of the Com-
|
|
|
|
|
mittee of Claims of the House of Delegates.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

|
|
|
