Chapter 89.


AN ACT to repeal chapters forty-six and four hun-


dred and ninety-two of the acts passed January


session, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled


"An act to repeal and re-enact. with amendments


chapter three hundred and seventy-three of the acts


passed January session, eighteen hundred and


eighty, entitled An act to repeal and re-enact chap-


ter four hundred and thirty-nine of the acts of eigh-


teen hundred and seventy-four, entitled An act to


regulate the issuing of licenses for the sale of spirit-


uous and fermented liquors in this state," and to re-


enact the same with amendments.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly


of Maryland, That chapters forty-six and four hun-


dred and nine-two of the acts passed January session,


eighteen hundred and eighty-two, each entitled An


act to repeal and re-enact with amendments chapter


three hundred and seventy-three of the acts passed


January session, eighteen hundred and eighty, entitled

Repealed and
re-enacted.

An act to repeal and re-enact chapter four hundred


and thirty-nine of the acts of eighteen hundred and

licenses for the sale of spirituous and fermented


liquors in this state, be and the same are hereby


repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :


SEC. 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That from and after the passage of this


act, it shall not be lawful for the clerks of circuit


courts of this state to issue any license for the sale of


spirituous or fermented liquors, or lager beer, to any


person or body politic in this state, unless such person


or body politic shall have been recommended to the

applicant for such license shall reside, provided, how-


ever, that this act, or any of its provisions, shall not
