AN ACT to repeal section one hundred and two of
|
|
|
|
article twenty of the Code of Public Local Laws,
|
|
|
|
title " Talbot county," sub-title " Oxford," and sec-
|
|
|
|
tion ninety-nine of said article as amended and re-
|
|
|
|
enacted by chapter one hundred and seventy of
|
|
|
|
acts of eighteen hundred and seventy-six, and to
|
|
|
|
re-enact the same with amendments, and also to
|
|
|
|
add additional sections thereto.

|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That section one hundred and two of
|
|
|
|
article twenty of the Code of Public Local Laws,
|
|

enacted by the act of eighteen hundred and seventy-

six, chapter one hundred and seventy, be and the same

|

is hereby repealed and re-enacted, and that additional
|
|
|
|
sections be added to said article, as follows :
|
|
|
|
SEC. 102. If any of the said commissioners, during
|
|
|
|
the term for which he was elected, shall die, resign,
|
|
|
|
remove from said county, or be otherwise disqualified,
|
|
|
|
an election shall be held to fill the vacancy; or if
|
|
|

from any cause the citizens of said town shall neglect

filled.

or fail to hold an election for commissioners as re-
|
|
|
|
quired by this act, then the commissioners in office
|
|
|
|
shall order an election within thirty days from such
|
|
|
|
neglect or failure to hold, and shall give ten days'
|
|
|
|
notice of the time and place of holding such election.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 99. All male inhabitants above the age of
|
|
|
|
twenty-one years, who shall have had a bona-fide resi-
|
|
|
|
dence in said town for six months, and twelve months
|
|
|
|
in the state next preceding the election, or who shall
|
|
|
|
be the holders of real property within the limits of
|
|
|
|
said town, and have resided six months in Talbot
|
|
|

county, and twelve months in the state, shall, on the

|
commissioner.

first Monday in June, in the year eighteen hundred

|
|
and eighty-four, at such time and place as shall be
|
|
|
|
designated by the commissioners, elect three persons
|
|
|
|
who are above the age of twenty-one years, and who
|
|
|
|
have resided in said town at least twelve months next
|
|
|
|
preceding the election of the commissioners of said
|
|
|
|
town; the person so elected receiving the highest
|
|
