the court; provided, however, that if the act or acts in this
section above prohibited shall be committed on the Sab-
bath Day, commonly called Sunday, or on any day upon
which a general or primary election shall be held, or on
any day whatsoever between the hours of 12 o'clock mid-
night and 5 o'clock A. M. the offender shall, upon convic-
tion, be sentenced to imprisonment in jail or in the House
of Correction for not less than six months, and the court
may, in its discretion, in addition to sentence of imprison-
ment aforesaid, also impose a fine not exceeding one thou-
sand dollars.
445. All prosecutions pending at the time this Act be-
comes effective for any violations of laws as they existed
before this Act becomes effective and all violations of the
provisions of said laws that shall have occurred before this
Act becomes effective, shall be prosecuted to conviction and
punishment to the same extent as if this Act had not been
passed.
457. Hereafter it shall not be lawful for the Clerk of
the Circuit Court for Baltimore County to issue license
to any person or persons to sell spirituous or fermented
liquors or lager beer within the town of Sparrows Point
or at any place in said county within one and one-half miles
from the corner of Fourth and D Streets in Sparrows Point.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and being passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
