thereof, without the authority of the Mayor and City Coun-
cil, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars, or con-
fined in the County Jail for not more than sixty days, or
both fined and imprisoned, in the discretion of the Court.

628. It is further empowered to take care of all persons
suffering from accident, sickness or physical or mental in-
firmity, who are unable to take care of themselves, and if
deemed necessary, may have them sent to the Almshouse
of Prince George's County, in which case all expenses so
incurred shall be repaid to the Mayor and City Council by
the County Commissioners of said County, who are hereby
authorized and required to levy annually such amount as
shall be requisite for reimbursement thereof, and to issue
warrants for such purpose, payable to the Mayor and City
Council of said town.

JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.

629. The Justices of the Peace for Prince George's
County, resident in the town of Laurel, are hereby de-
clared to be conservators of the peace of the town, and it
shall be their duty to order the arrest of any person found
by them disturbing the peace, quiet or order of the town,
or violating any ordinance, resolution or regulation made
by the Mayor and City Council. And upon complaint
made before any of the Justices of the Peace for said
County of the violation of any ordinance, resolution or
regulation of the said town, he shall issue process in the
name of the Mayor and City Council of Laurel against the
party offending, and shall hear and determine the matter
as any case arising under the laws of this State, and shall
receive the same fees therefor.

630. Any Justice of the Peace having jurisdiction may
commit any party fined by him for violation of any ordi-
nance of the Mayor and City Council, or any provision of
this act, to a County Jail or to the City Jail provided by the
Mayor and City Council for such confinement, in default
of the payment of such fine.

In any case, civil or criminal, brought before a Justice
of the Peace in Prince George's County in which the Mayor
and City Council is a party, any party thereto, upon mak-
ing an affidavit that the affiant believes a fair trial cannot
be had before the said Justice, may have said case removed
to another Justice of the Peace of said County, to be se-
