754 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 430

Said application and registration shall be renewed each
year, and no dealer's tags shall be issued to any one who
has not so registered. Any change in the information so
furnished shall be promptly given under oath to the said
Commissioner.

Every manufacturer, dealer or distributor so registering
shall notify the said Commissioner of the receipt of all
motor vehicles by him except those which are left with him
for storage or for repair, stating the make, model and en-
gine number of the vehicles enumerated therein, and the
name and address of the person, firm or corporation from
whom received. Similar notice shall be given in the case
of the delivery of all new motor vehicles to non-residents
of the State by said manufacturer, dealer or distributor,
except that the notice in such case shall also state the name
and address of the person or persons to whom such delivery
was made.

Such notices shall in all cases be made on forms to be
provided by the said Commissioner, to be subscribed and
sworn to by the manufacturer, dealer or distributor, and
to be sent to the said Commissioner within twenty-four
hours after the receipt or delivery of such motor vehicle.
Upon receipt of such notice of the receipt of new motor
vehicles, the said Commissioner shall promptly issue to
such manufacturer, dealer or distributor, without cost, a
certificate for each vehicle so received.

A manufacturer, dealer or distributor, duly registered
under the provisions of this section, may use his dealer's
tags on motor vehicles in his possession, but not owned by
him, for periods of five days, and no longer, provided he
first obtains from the owner of said motor vehicle written
permission so to do, and provided further that he shall
have and display, on demand of any proper officer, the
actual consent in writing of the owner of said motor vehicle
to such use.

Whenever a sale of a motor vehicle is made by a dealer
duly registered under the provisions of this section, the
dealer may permit the purchaser of such vehicle to use his
dealer's tags on the vehicle so purchased, or if in such sale
such dealer has taken in trade another motor vehicle reg-
istered under the laws of this State, such dealer may permit
the purchaser to use on the vehicle so purchased the current
registration tags belonging to the vehicle so taken in trade
for a period not exceeding ten days from the date of the
sale, provided the dealer shall give to such purchaser per-
mission so to use such tags, said permission to be in sub-
stitution for registration cards and to be on forms to be
