quired by law of the Clerk to said County Commissioners;
and the surety on said bond shall be some surety company
authorized to do business in the State of Maryland, and the
premium on said bond shall be paid by the County Com-
missioners of Prince George's County; which Deputy Clerk
in the absence of the Clerk shall act in his place and stead,
and be vested with his authority, and the Deputy Clerk
shall receive a salary of not more than Ten Hundred and
Eighty Dollars ($1, 080. 00) per annum; but nothing in this
Act shall prevent the appointment of the same individual
as County Road Clerk at the salary now fixed by law for
said Road Clerk, and the total salary so received as the
Deputy Clerk to the County Commissioners and as Clerk
to said Road Board shall not exceed Sixteen Hundred and
Twenty Dollars ($1, 620. 00) per annum.

318. They shall in the month of March, 1914, and every
two years thereafter appoint a Transfer Clerk and Auditor
for Prince George's County, who shall, subject to the con-
trol, direction and decision of the said County Commis-
sioners, correct and keep the assessment books of Prince
George's County so that the same will truly show the actual
owner or owners of each piece of property thereon. To
this end said Transfer Clerk and Auditor shall diligently
hunt for and ascertain the true owner or owners of all
property on said books not in their respective name or
names, also every transfer of property by deed, decree,
will, descent or otherwise, and report the same fully at
least monthly to the County Commissioners, and said
Transfer Clerk and Auditor shall also, as soon as prac-
ticable, after the last of March in each and every year,
audit the accounts of said County Commissioners, the
Treasurer of said county and the Board of County Road
Directors for said county for the year preceding the last
Monday in March and report the same together with a full
statement. of the financial condition of the County Com-
missioners of Prince George's County to said Commis-
sioners, and the said report shall be published in the news-
paper having the county printing and be embraced in the
annual contract for such printing. The said Transfer
Clerk and Auditor shall also perform such other and fur-
ther duties as the County Commissioners of Prince.
George's County may impose upon him.

Before entering upon the duties of his office said Trans-
fer Clerk and Auditor shall take oath before any of said
County Commissioners that he will diligently, without
partiality for prejudice, discharge the duties of his office,
