persons may register, and the names of persons on the said
books of registration who have removed from the said
town, or for other reasons are disqualified as voters, shall
be erased from the books of the registration officers upon
their own initiative, or upon affidavit of any bona fide resi-
dent of the town that such person or persons are not resi-
dents of the town or are otherwise disqualified and not en-
titled to register and vote in said town elections. Registra-
tions shall be conducted by registration officers hereinbefore
provided for, who shall have power to administer oaths to
persons applying for registration and should any applicant
make false answer to any material question he shall be
guilty of the crime of perjury and subject to the penalties
provided by the law of the State of Maryland. The regis-
tration officers shall register all citizens of the town of
twenty-one years and upwards so applying, who at the time
of application may possess the qualifications necessary to
entitle them to register as legally qualified voters of the
State of Maryland, and who in addition thereto shall have
resided in said town for at least six months immediately
preceding such application for registration.

The registration of voters so made shall be entered upon
books duly provided by the Mayor and Town Council for
the purpose, which shall be kept in the custody of the town
clerk, and shall be open to public inspection at all reason-
able times, subject to regulation by the Mayor and Town
Council, if considered advisable by that body, and from
such books the election officers shall conduct the annual
elections.

Except where otherwise expressly provided, or where un-
doubtedly inconsistent or inoperative, the provisions and
procedure of the laws of the State of Maryland in regard
to Election shall apply to the town election herein provided.

Section 406. That any party desiring to run for said
Mayor, Treasurer or Councilman of said town shall
be at least twenty-three years of age, and shall have resided
within the corporate limits of said town at least two years
prior to election, and shall, at the time of the filing of his
petition with the town clerk, as in this section hereinafter
provided, own real estate located within the limits of the
Town of Edmonston which is assessed upon the assessment
books of Prince George's County at least to the value of
seven hundred and fifty dollars, and any person desiring to
run for said Mayor or Treasurer of said town shall
file with the town clerk, a petition containing the names
of at least 20 voters of the Town of Edmonston; and any
