be had. The said Commissioner shall not be eligible to an
elective office during the term for which he was appointed.
The said Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis
shall pay a salary to the said Commissioner not exceeding
the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200. 00) per annum.
There shall be appropriated each year One Hundred and
Fifty Dollars ($150. 00) as a contingent fund for the said
Police Commissioner, to be expended for traveling expenses
or for such other purposes as said Commissioner may, in
his discretion, deem desirable and necessary in the public
interests; and the said fund shall be paid by the Treasurer
of the City of Annapolis upon the order of the said Police
Commissioner without the approval of any other official
or officials, anything in the Charter or ordinances of said
City to the contrary notwithstanding.

21D. Any member of the Police Department or of the
paid Fire Department of the City of Annapolis may be re-
tired from his department after twenty years of active
service, on a retirement salary of Fifty Dollars ($50. 00)
per month, if permanently incapacitated for active duty,
or, at any time, if permanently incapacitated on account
of injuries received in the performance of duty, said eligi-
bility for retirement in either case to be determined by the
Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis, under regu-
lations which said municipal corporation is hereby author-
ized to pass. It shall be mandatory upon the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis to appropriate and levy
each year a sufficient sum to pay the pensions herein pro-
vided for to all members of the Police and paid Fire De-
partments retired under the provisions of this section.
There shall be no provision in the law under which a mem-
ber of the Police or paid Fire Departments may apply for
retirement or be retired at a certain age, limit.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1st, 1933.
