CHAPTER 333.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
427 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County, " sub-
title "Oakland, " and authorizing the Mayor and Town
Council to contribute to the maintenance of the free
public library and musical organization.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 427 of Article 12 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Garrett County, " sub-title "Oakland, " be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read
as follows:

427. The council shall have power to pass all ordinances
not unconstitutional with the existing laws of the State, as
they may deem necessary for the good government of the
town, for the preservation of peace and good order, and
securing persons and property from violence, danger and
destruction; for the removal of nuisances, no matter from
what source proceeding, and all obstructions from the
streets, lanes and alleys, and from any lot adjoining thereto
within the limits of the town; for the removal of any dan-
gerous house or buildings; for the paving, grading, repair-
ing, drainage, leveling, surveying, laying out, extending,
widening, opening, closing, straightening, re-locating, im-
proving, or repairing any street, sidewalk or alley in said
town; and may condemn or purchase the fight of way of
any street or alley which they may determine should be
opened for the public good; for the preservation of prop-
erty rights and privileges; for the regulation of sales of
the streets, alleys or public places in said town; for the
weighing of hay, coal and other property; for the suppres-
sion of vice and immorality; for the suppression of con-
cealed weapons; for the suppression of the practice of
discharging firearms, fire-crackers, torpedoes or other ex-
plosives; for regulating the handling and storing of all
kinds of explosives; for the prevention of gambling; for
licensing of theatricals or other public amusements; to
suppress tramps; for lighting the streets; for preventing
swine, cattle, dogs or other animals from running at large
on the streets; for imposing a tax on dogs; for locating of
hog pens, privies and stables; and the Mayor and Town
Council shall have power and full authority to pass all such
