of their duties, and shall keep open the office of the said
Commissioners and be in attendance therein from 10 o'clock
A. M. to 3 o'clock P. M. each day of the week except Sun-
days and holidays. He shall perform carefully, diligently
and faithfully all duties imposed on him by the Charter the
ordinances and proper directions of the Board of Commis-
sioners. He shall also be Treasurer for the Town and for
the Commissioners and shall receive and keep safely for
the uses and purposes of the Board and the town all moneys
belonging thereto, which he may collect and which may
come into his hands belonging to the said town. He shall
always be ready to pay to the Commissioners or to their
order any moneys which belong to them and which he has
received on behalf of the same, not already appropriated.
He shall, in addition to his duties as Clerk and Treasurer
aforesaid, collect all the town taxes and water rents due
the Town, back taxes and past due water rents as well as
those taxes and water rents to become due after the passage
of this Law, and he is hereby clothed with power and au-
thority to levy upon and sell real estate and personal prop-
erty for taxes due and in arrears and in default, in the
same manner as is now provided for the collection of such
taxes by the sale of property by the County Treasurer of
Somerset County, and as an additional remedy he may in
his own name as "Town Clerk, Treasurer and Collector of
Princess Anne, " enter suit at law either before a Justice of
the Peace or in the Circuit Court and maintain an action
for such taxes so in default, and a judgment in his favor
for the same shall be a preferred tax lien and so indicated
by the Clerk of the Court or Justice trying the case by
adding "Taxes" when indexing said judgment. He shall
also be and hereby is clothed with power and authority to
collect past due water rents for the town, by, either with
or without the order of the Commissioners, turning off the
water of the delinquent, and keeping it turned off until
said delinquent pays up all arrearages, after having given
said delinquent ten days notice of his intention to do so if
the water rent is not paid before. The said "Town Clerk,
Treasurer and Collector of Princess Anne" shall immedi-
ately after his appointment as such and before he enters
upon any official duties execute to the President and Com-
missioners of Princess Anne a bond in the penalty of twelve
thousand dollars if executed by individuals, or of six thou-
sand dollars, if executed by a Bonding Company, the prem-
ium, if any, to be paid by the Commissioners, conditioned
for the good and faithful performance by him of all the
duties appertaining to his office imposed on him by the
