CHAPTER 223.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
15 and 22 of Article 89B of the Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland, title "State Roads," as the same was
enacted by Chapter 539 of the Acts of the General As-
sembly of Maryland, 1931, and providing that whenever
a grade crossing is eliminated' under the provisions of
Sections 13 to 22 inclusive of the aforegoing Article one-
fourth of the expenses of such alterations, changes, re-
location and/or opening, including damage to adjacent
property, maintenance and repair of all bridges, arch-
ways or culverts, including approaches to such bridges,
archways or culverts, shall be paid by the Railroad and
three-fourths thereof by the State Roads Commission.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 15 and 22 of Article 89B of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "State
Roads," as the same was enacted by Chapter 539 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland at its session
of 1931, be and the same are hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments, said amended sections to read as
follows:
Section 15. One-fourth of the expense of such altera-
tions, changes, relocation and/or opening, including dam-
age to adjacent property, shall be paid by such railroad and
three-fourths by the State Roads Commission. When two
or more railroads use such crossings, each shall bear its
proper proportion of the railroad's share of the expense,
such proportion to be determined by the State Roads Com-
mission.
The Mayor and City Council of Cumberland is author-
ized and empowered to advance to the State Roads Com-
mission out of any surplus now in its hands from its Gen-
eral Improvement Bond Issue of 1920, or from any other
