to be and shall be also members of said Board of Directors
for a period of two years and until such time as their suc-
cessors are elected and qualified. Each community that
hereinafter arises in the said area, other than those pro-
vided for; shall have a member on the said Board of Direc-
tors, after its candidates have met the same qualifications
as those that have been already admitted by the other com-
munities; provided further, however, that the president
of said corporation, or one of the vice-presidents, shall per-
form all duties herein devolved upon the said Mayor of
Glen Echo, subsequent to the first election, aforesaid.

SEC. 2. An be it further enacted, That for the purpose
of providing funds with which to establish, maintain and
operate said Conduit Road Fire Board, Incorporated, the
Board of County Commissioners of said county shall levy
and hereby are authorized to levy annually against all of
the assessable property within the area hereinbefore men-
tioned and more particularly hereinafter described, a tax
sufficient but not in any event more than ten cents on each
$100 of the assessable value of the real and personal prop-
erty within said area, to be used to meet the annual re-
quirements for expenditures necessary to enable said cor-
poration to establish, equip, maintain and operate said fire
fighting corporation, including the purchase of real estate,
the erection of buildings, and the payment of salaries of
firemen; that said tax shall be levied, collected and paid
over to said corporation, its successor or successors in the
following manner; at least 30 days before the tax levying
period of each year the said County Commissioners shall
certify to the said corporation its successor or successors,
the whole amount of the assessable property within the
said area; that the said corporation, its successor or suc-
cessors, shall then determine the amount necessary to be
raised for the ensuing year, and then after determining the
number of cents per $100 of the said assessable values nec-
essary to raise the amount required for the ensuing year
as aforesaid shall thereupon certify the same to the said
County Commissioners; that the said County Commission-
ers in the next ensuing annual tax levy shall levy said tax
at the rate certified to, them as aforesaid, on all lands and
improvements, and on any other property assessed for
county tax purposes within said area, which said tax may
be levied and collected as county taxes now or may here-
after by law be levied and collected, and shall have, the same
priority rights, and shall bear the same interest rate and
penalties and in every respect shall be treated as taxes for
