provide penalties for the violation thereof; and to pro-
vide that Sections 483 and 485 of Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes
and Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath Breaking", shall
be repealed in so far as said sections prohibit the opera-
tion of motion picture theatres on Sunday in said incor-
porated towns in Allegany County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That notwithstanding any provision of any Pub-
lic General or Public Local Law, the several incorporated
towns in Allegany County, for the purpose of promoting a
reasonable and proper observance of Sunday, shall have full
power and authority to prohibit, permit or regulate from
time to time by ordinance or ordinances the operation of
motion picture theatres for recreation or profit within
their respective corporate limits on the Lord's Day, com-
monly called Sunday; and said incorporated towns shall
have full power and authority to prescribe the conditions
or regulations under which moving picture theatres may
be operated on Sunday, and shall have full power and au-
thority to provide penalties for the violation of such ordi-
nance, condition or regulation.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 483 and
485 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924
Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Sab-
bath Breaking", shall not apply to any incorporated town in
Allegany County, and shall be repealed in so far as said
sections prohibit the operation of motion picture theatres
on Sunday in said incorporated towns; provided, however,
that said repeal shall not take effect until an ordinance
has been passed in the exercise of the power granted under
the provisions of Section 1 of this Act, but shall be re-
pealed only as to such incorporated town or towns in which
such ordinance has been passed and approved in accord-
ance with the provisions of this Act, but as to all other
such incorporated towns, the said Sections 483 and 485
of said Article 27 shall continue and remain in full force
and effect as if this Act had not been passed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the authority
and power granted by this Act to the several incorporated
towns in Allegany County shall be exercised by the corpo-
rate bodies of said incorporated towns, whether known and
designated as "Mayor and City Council", "Mayor and Town
Council", or by any other name, and the authority and
