SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Anne Arun-
del County are hereby authorized and empowered to levy
a special tax in each Election District of Anne Arundel
County to raise an amount of money not exceeding Twenty-
two Thousand Dollars ($22, 000. 00) for the year 1934 and
every year thereafter including such additional amounts as
may be necessary for the purchase, maintenance and re-
placement reserve of fire fighting equipment only of Vol-
unteer Fire Companies of Anne Arundel County, including
the City of Annapolis, and such other Volunteer Fire Com-
panies as may be created hereafter, by and with the con-
sent of said County Commissioners and the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis for the Sixth District of
Anne Arundel County. The amount to be distributed to the
Fire Company or companies of each Election District shall
be levied only in the Election District wherein the said Fire
Company or companies are located.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County be, and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to pay the sum of
Twenty-two Thousand Dollars ($22, 000. 00) to the several
Volunteer Fire Companies for the purchase, maintenance,
and replacement reserve for fire fighting equipment only,
provided, however, that the tax levied in the City of An-
napolis shall be paid to the Mayor and Aldermen of the
City of Annapolis, who shall pay the same to the several
volunteer fire companies of the City of Annapolis, for the
purchase, maintenance and replacement reserve for fire
fighting equipment only; no money shall be spent for parade
or dress uniforms or for any other purpose than provided
in this Act. No such payment shall be made unless the
fire fighting apparatus is properly equipped with the neces-
sary fire fighting appliances for the protection of the area
in which they operate. No Volunteer Fire Company shall
receive any payment under this Act, unless it is equipped
with the fire alarm system, approved by the County Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel County and the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis for the Sixth District
of Anne Arundel County.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That said payments
shall be made to the treasurer of the several Volunteer
Fire Companies and to the Mayor and Aldermen of the
City of Annapolis ninety days after the tax levying period
of each year. That said payments made to the Mayor and
