CHAPTER 104.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
144 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington County, "
sub-title "County Commissioners, " reducing the salary
of the County Clerk, authorizing the County Commis-
sioners to employ an Assistant Clerk and an Attorney,
and fixing their compensation.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 144 of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws' of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County, " sub-title "County Commissioners, "
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments to read as, follows:
144. The County Clerk shall receive for his services
an annual salary of two thousand dollars ($2, 000. 00) and
no more, payable in equal monthly installments by the
County Commissioners of Washington County. The said
County Commissioners are hereby authorized and empow-
ered to employ an Assistant to the County Clerk, who shall
receive for his services an annual salary not exceeding
twelve hundred dollars ($1, 200. 00), payable in equal
monthly installments, and to employ an Attorney for said
Commissioners, who shall receive for his services an annual
salary not exceeding six hundred dollars ($600. 00), pay-
able in equal monthly installments. The said County Com-
missioners are hereby authorized and required to levy the
needful taxes on the assessable property within the county
liable to taxation as shall be sufficient to, pay said salaries.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1933.
