CHAPTER 95.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
447, 448, 449 and 450 of Article 8 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil
County, " sub-title "Sheriff, " and to add a new section to
said Article, to be known as Section 447A and to follow
immediately after Section 447 of said Article, providing
for the compensation and expenses of the Sheriff and his
Deputies and for the disposition of fines and costs by him
collected.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 447, 448, 449 and 450 of Article
8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Cecil County, " sub-title "Sheriff, " be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments,
and that a new section be and it is hereby added to said
Article, to be known as Section 447A, to follow immedi-
ately after Section 447 of said Article, and all to read as
follows:
447. The Sheriff of Cecil County shall receive an an-
nual salary of the sum of Three Thousand Dollars, to
be paid to him in monthly installments of Two Hundred
and Fifty Dollars by the County Commissioners of Cecil
County, and he shall be paid the further sum of Six Hun-
dred Dollars per annum, to be paid to him in monthly in-
stallments, for expenses incident to the operation of his
automobile in performing the duties of his office, which
sum or sums shall be in lieu of all expenses, fees or costs
now or heretofore allowed the Sheriff of Cecil County for
expenses in carrying out the duties of his office, including
all expenses for transferring prisoners to and from penal
institutions and places of confinement in the State of Mary-
land, including also the transfer of insane committed by
Cecil County to institutions and places of confinement, and
no further sum or sums, whatsoever.
The County Commissioners shall furnish the Sheriff with
the necessary stationery, books and office supplies for the
proper operation of his office, and the County Commis-
sioners are further authorized and directed to levy at the
rate of Four Hundred Dollars a year for the term of said
Sheriff, the total of which may be furnished the Sheriff
when his term commences or when the County Commis-
sioners see fit, for the purchase of an automobile to be used
