by the Sheriff or his deputy for the general public work of
that office, which automobile is to be maintained by the
Sheriff without any cost to the County other than the Six
Hundred Dollars annual allowance above referred to.

447A. He shall collect all fines, costs, fees and other
charges arising out of both criminal and civil cases to
which he may be entitled by law, and exercise all powers
conferred upon him by law to enforce the collection of the
same, and shall at the end of each month during his term
of office, make an itemized report under oath of the same
to the County Commissioners of Cecil County in such form
as said Commissioners may direct, and pay over the same
to the County Commissioners for the use of said County,
and whenever any Sheriff shall retire from office leaving
uncollected any moneys lawfully payable to him as afore-
said, it shall be the duty of his successor to collect and pay
over the same; and it shall be the duty of the Sheriff to
keep in his office in a proper book for the purpose an official
record of moneys collected and to be collected, which book,
immediately after his term in office, shall be delivered to
the County Commissioners.

448. The Sheriff of Cecil County is hereby authorized
and required to appoint at least two deputy sheriffs for said
County, who shall provide automobiles or motorcycles for
their own use in performing their duties, and shall be paid
by the County Commissioners. One of the said deputies
shall be known and designated Chief Deputy and shall re-
ceive a salary of Thirteen Hundred Dollars per annum and
the other deputy shall receive a salary of Eleven Hundred
Dollars per annum, payable in equal monthly installments,
and in addition each of the two aforesaid deputy sher-
iffs shall be paid by the County Commissioners an an-
nual sum of Six Hundred Dollars in monthly installments
of Fifty Dollars, which sum or sums shall be in lieu of all
expenses for travelling, transportation or use of automo-
biles, and in lieu of all expenses now or heretofore allowed
said deputy sheriffs by way of salary, fees or expenses.
The said deputies shall hold office at the pleasure of the
Sheriff and may be removed by said Sheriff at any time said
Sheriff may elect or by the Circuit Court for Cecil County
upon indictment and conviction as now provided by law.

It shall be the duty of the Sheriff of Cecil County to re-
quire said deputies to do and perform at any time, in any
place in said County, any service incident to the office of
deputy sheriff, which they may be by the Sheriff ordered to
