the discretion of the Court according to the conditions and
circumstances of the deceased, not to exceed Three Hun-
dred ($300) Dollars, except by special order of court. It
shall be the duty of the executor or administrator of such
a deceased wife's estate to pay said funeral expenses out
of her estate and to thereafter collect from the deceased
wife's surviving husband a sum sufficient to reimburse
said decedent's estate for the amount so paid out of it to
cover said funeral expenses. The provisions of this act
are not intended to relieve a surviving husband of his lia-
bility for the payment of his deceased wife's funeral ex-
penses, but is intended to make a deceased wife's estate,
providing it be solvent, a primary source from which her
funeral expenses may be paid.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1st, 1933.

CHAPTER 70.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
225 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County, "
sub-title "Revenue and Taxes, " sub-heading "County
Treasurer, " decreasing the compensation of the Deputy
County Treasurer.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 225 of Article 23 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Wicomico County, " sub-title "Revenue and Taxes, " sub-
heading "County Treasurer, " be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
225. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy, who shall
perform such duties as said Treasurer shall require and
for whose official conduct said Treasurer shall be respon-
sible and who in the absence of the Treasurer shall act in
his place. Said deputy shall receive a salary of $1, 200. 00
per annum, payable by the County Commissioners of
Wicomico County in monthly installments for every year
he may serve as such deputy, or pro rata for a part
thereof.
