CHAPTER 59.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
4 of Article 38 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924
Edition), title "Fines and Forfeitures, " as said section
was amended by Chapter 225 of the Acts of 1931, ex-
empting Garrett County from the provisions of said
section which provides that one-half of the fines and for-
feitures shall be paid for the libraries of the several
courts.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 4 of Article 38 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Fines and For-
feitures, " as said section was amended by Chapter 225 of
the Acts of 1931, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted
to read as follows:

4. One-half of the fines imposed and recognizances
forfeited to the Circuit Court for the several counties of
the State, shall be paid to the clerks of the respective
courts, to be expended under the direction of the judge or
judges of said courts for the augmentation of libraries of
said courts, and all the fines and recognizances received by
the City Register of Baltimore City from the justices of
the peace in Baltimore City and the Sheriff of Baltimore
City, as adjudged by and accruing in the Criminal Courts
of Baltimore City, and collected and received by or through
the said Sheriff, shall be paid by said City Register to the
Library Company of the Baltimore Bar for its use and
benefit. Said sum not to exceed, however, in any year the
sum of seven thousand and five hundred dollars ($7, 500. 00).
The Boards of County Commissioners of the several
counties of this State, and the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore are hereby authorized to provide ample accom-
modations and facilities for law libraries located in their
respective Court Houses. This section not to apply to
Montgomery, Queen Anne's, Caroline, Cecil, Anne Arun-
del and Talbot Counties, provided, that the Bar Library
of Garrett County shall only be entitled to receive the sum
of Five Hundred Dollars: ($500. 00).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1933.
