SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 175 and 176 of Article 2 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arun-
del County, " sub-title "Building Permits, " be and the said
sections are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments so as to read as follows:
175. Hereafter, no building or structure of any kind
whatsoever, exceeding in value one hundred dollars ($100)
shall be erected or constructed in Anne Arundel County
outside the City of Annapolis by any individual, firm or
corporation without a permit in writing first being obtained
from the office of the County Commissioners of said County,
signed by the President of the Board and attested by the
Clerk thereof; the applicant for such permit to pay to the
County Commissioners according to the following scale of
fees: One buildings to cost between one hundred and five
hundred dollars, he shall pay a fee of one dollar; five hun-
dred and one thousand dollars, a fee of two dollars; one
thousand to fifteen hundred dollars, a fee of three dollars;
fifteen hundred to three thousand dollars, a fee of five dol-
lars; three thousand to five thousand dollars, a fee of seven
dollars and fifty cents; five thousand to ten thousand dol-
lars, a fee of twelve dollars and fifty cents; ten thousand
to twenty-five thousand dollars, a fee of twenty dollars;
twenty-five thousand to fifty thousand dollars, a fee of
twenty-five dollars; and fifty thousand and over, a fee of
fifty dollars.
176. Any owner, agent, builder or contractor who shall
erect or undertake, or authorize the erection of a building
"or structure of any kind in said County, outside the city
of Annapolis, without having obtained the permit, afore-
said, shall be liable to a fine of not less than twenty-five
dollars ($25), nor more than one hundred dollars ($100)
for each offense, to be recoverable before any justice of the
peace of said County, the amount of said fine to be ac-
counted for and paid over by said justice of the peace to the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, it being declared
an emergency law and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety.
