CHAPTER 592.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
318 and 319 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, 1924 Edition, title "Crimes and Punishments, "
sub-title "Larceny, " increasing the minimum in larceny
from five dollars or upwards to twenty-five dollars or
upwards, and providing that the theft of property under
the value of twenty-five dollars shall be a misdemeanor,
and prescribing the penalties therefor, and fixing the time
within which actions may be brought, and conferring
jurisdiction upon certain Justices of the Peace and Police
Justices of the Counties and Police Justices of Bal-
timore City, and providing method of procedure; and
to add a new section to follow immediately after
Section 319, to be designated as Section 319a, making the
breaking of any shop, store house, tobacco house or ware-
house, with intent to steal an amount under the value of
twenty-five dollars, or stealing, in such breaking, an
amount under the value of one dollar, misdemeanors,
and providing jurisdiction and penalties for same; and
providing further that nothing in this Act shall be con-
strued to interfere with any prosecution that has or may
hereafter be commenced for any violation of these sec-
tions, hereby repealed or added, happening previous to
June 1, 1933.

CHAPTER 593.

AN ACT to add twelve new sections to be under a new
sub-title to read as follows: "Mileage Tax For Use
And Maintenance of the Roads", to Article 81 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, 1929 Edi-
tion, title "Revenue and Taxes", to follow immediately
after Section 198, and to be known as Sections 199, 199A,
200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208 and 209, for
the purpose of requiring interstate motor carriers of
freight or merchandise and interstate carriers of pas-
sengers for hire to pay a tax for the use and mainte-
nance of the roads; to provide for a separate classifica-
tion for interstate motor vehicle carriers of passengers
for hire operating in urban territory; to provide the
