AN ACT to empower the County Commissioners
of Queen Anne County to levy a tax, not ex-
ceeding sixty thousand dollars, on the taxable
property of said county, for the benefit of the
Queen Anne and Kent Railroad; provided, that
on submission of the questions to the citizens of
the county, there shall appear to he a majority
thereof voting for such taxation, and further, in
such favorable contingency, to authorise the
County Commissioners to issue the bonds of the
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That at the next ensuing election of
Delegates to the General Assembly, or at any sub-
sequent election, either for State or county officers,
within two years thereafter the County Commis-
sioners of said county shall submit to the voters
thereof the question, whether they will vote for or
against a tax to be levied on the taxable property
of said county to an amount not exceeding sixty
thousand dollars, including that to be levied for
the redemption of the bonds hereinafter provided
for, to be applied to aid in the construction of the
Queen Anne and Kent Railroad.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That said County Com-
missioners shall procure to be printed on the bal-
lots to be used by the opposing political parties, at
the election when said question of taxation shall
he submitted to the people, the words, "For the
tax, " and the words " Against the tax, " and they
are hereby authorized to pay a fair proportionate
part of the cost of printing such ballots.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted^ That the Judges of
Elections in the several election districts of said
county shall cause to be prepared on the lists of
registered voters, parallel lines, inscribed, " For
the tax. " and "Against the tax, " in which the
clerks of election shall record the votes of the elec-
tors as expressed on the ballots.
