Penalty.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That for every violation
of the foregoing section, the person or persons con-
victed of the same shall, for each and every offence,
pay not less than twenty dollars nor more than
fifty dollars, one half to the informer and the other
half to the State.

In force.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

 

CHAPTER 151.

AN ACT to add an additional section to the fifty-
sixth article of the Code of Public General Laws,
entitled, "Licenses, " prescribing certain duties
to the Sheriff of Baltimore city, in relation to
licenses, and repealing the Act of January Ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, chapter
one hundred and forty-two, relating to the Clerk
of the Court of Common Pleas.

made.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That it shall be the duty of the
Sheriff of Baltimore city, annually, in the month
of April, to make or cause to be made, an alpha-
betical list of the names of all the persons or bodies
corporate or politic, in each ward of the city of
Baltimore, who shall be exercising or pursuing
any business or be doing any act or thing or shall
be in the use or occupation of any house or place
for any purpose for which a license is made neces-
sary by this article of the Code, and to return such
list to the grand jury of said city at as early a
period as practicable, after the first day of May

in the first week of the month of April, cause a
notice to be inserted in the daily papers of the city,
cautioning all persons and bodies corporate or po-
litic, whom it may concern, to obtain a license or
