renew the same on or before the first day of May
then next ensuing; and said Sheriff shall he en-
titled to and receive twenty-five cents for every li-
cense obtained by any person, whose name shall
be contained in the list or lists so returned by him,
to be paid by the party applying for each license;
but the failure of said Sheriff to give the notice
herein directed, shall not excuse any neglect to ob-
tain a license, as required by the Code of Public
Laws.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act take
effect from and after the first day of April next.

AN ACT to incorporate the Baltimore Lever
Beater Press Company.

7, 1866,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That William Prescott Smith, Thos.
Clarke, Eugene McDonnell and Prudencio De Mur-
guiondo, their associates, successors and assigns
be, and they are hereby created a body corporate
by the name and style of the Baltimore Lever
Beater Press Company, and by that name shall
have perpetual succession, and shall be capable in
law to hold and dispose of property, real, personal
or mixed, fee simple or leasehold, to sue and be
sued, to plead and be impleaded, to answer and
defend, and be answered and defended in any
courts of law or equity, and in any other place
whatsoever, to receive and make deeds and con-
tracts, to make, have and use a common seal, and
the same to change, alter and renew at pleasure;
to ordain and establish such by-laws, ordinances
and regulations as may appear necessary for regu-
lating the concerns of said corporation, not being
contrary to this act; to purchase and sell patent
rights in the city of Baltimore and elsewhere; to
