LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

vent the tumultuous and irregular meetings of dis-
solute and disorderly persons within the town, and
disperse them when assembled, by reasonable and
lawful means, and he shall have in said town all the
powers, and perform all the duties of a constable.

President to
preside at
meetings.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the President of
said Board of Commissioners, shall preside at all
meetings of the Commissioners, vote on all ques-
tions before them, and remain in office until super-
seded by the appointment of a new President,

Ordinances.

after a new election of Commissioners; the said
President and Commissioners shall pass ordinances
regulating the market, inspection, measurement,
and weight of all provisions, grain and wood sold
in said town; to prevent firing cannon, guns, pistols,
squibs, or any kind of firearms or fireworks in said
town, to suppress and abate all nuisances, to pre-
vent swine, geese, cattle, or horses from going at
large, to prevent any immoderate driving through
the streets, with carriage, stage, cart, wagon or
other vehicle, or on horse-back, so as to endanger
the lives, limbs or property of the citizens of said
town, or disturb the quiet enjoyment of the streets
and thoroughfares, to prevent the parading and
indecent exhibition of any stallion or jack through
the streets, and may impose a fine of not exceeding
ten dollars for any offence, or any person violating
said ordinances.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the said Presi-
dent and Commissioners shall have power to estab-
lish the limits of said town, to remove obstructions
from the streets of the same, and establish the
