same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 146.

AN ACT to repeal the charter incorporating the
town of Denton, in Caroline county, and enact-
ing the following in lieu thereof.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the citizens of Denton are here-
by created a body corporate by the name of
the "President and Commissioners of the town of
Denton, " and by that name shall be capable of
suing and being sued, and may have and use a
common seal which they may break or alter at
their pleasure, which said town of Denton is
bounded and described on the plats thereof record-
ed in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court in
and for Caroline county.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the male in-
habitants of the town of Denton, who have resided
therein for six months, and twelve months in the
State next preceding the election, shall on the
first Monday of April, annually elect five persons
who have resided in said town twelve months pre-
vious to the election, and who at the time are con-
ducting some business or have a family therein,
commissioners for said town for the ensuing year;

and that Henry Blackiston, John R. Fountain,
John H. Emerson, William M. McMahan and
Alexander B. Glanden, be, and they are hereby
appointed and made the commissioners of said
town, until their successors are elected and quali-
fied, and all acts of theirs, as commissioners, shall
be as valid as if they were elected, and at their
