CHAPTER 113.
AN ACT to authorize James Richardson, of St.
Mary's county to erect two gates on a public
road passing through his lands in said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this
act it shall and may be lawful for James Richard-
son, of Saint Mary's county, to erect and keep two
gates on the public road now located and passing
through the farm on which he now resides, upon

the condition following: the said James Richard-
son, shall have such gates hung on good and suffi-
cient iron hinges, and shall keep the same in good
order and repair, so as to impede as little as possi-
ble persons traveling on said road.

Condition.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That if any person or
persons, after the passage of this act shall cut down,
destroy, wilfully leave fixed open, or remove either
of the said gates, he or they shall upon conviction
thereof before a Justice of the Peace, forfeit and
pay to the owner of such gate, a sum not less than
one nor more than ten dollars, for every such offence,
to be recovered in the manner of small debts.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.
