year thereafter, whether any license to sell spiritu-
ous or fermented liquors of any kind or description
whatsoever, shall be granted or issued by the
Clerk of the Circuit Court for Cecil county, to any
person to vend or sell the same within the limits of
said town.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That should a ma-
jority of the votes cast at any election held as pro-
vided in the first section of this Act, be unfavor-
able to the issuing of the said license, it shall not
he lawful for the said Clerk of the said Circuit
Court to issue any license for the sale of spirituous
or fermented liquors of any kind, within the limits
of said town, until a majority of the qualified
voters of said town, at some subsequent election
held under the provisions of the first section of
this Act, shall decide in favor of issuing license for
the sale of spirituous and fermented liquors in said
town.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 111.

AN ACT to repeal Section seventy-four of Article
thirteen in the Code of Public Local Laws, and
re-enact the same with amendments.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section seventy-four of article
thirteen in the Code of Public Local Laws he, and
the same is hereby repealed, and the following re-
enacted in lieu thereof:

74. The Sheriff of Howard county shall be
allowed for keeping and boarding prisoners com-
mitted to the jail of said county, for breach of the
peace, criminal offences or otherwise, such compen-
sation as the tax commissioners of said county
|
