Exonerated
from taxes.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the lands or por-
tion thereof, when conveyed as aforesaid, and over
which the jurisdiction is granted by this act, to-
gether with all personal property which may there-
after be within the bounds thereof, belonging to
the United States or to any of the officers or agents
of the United States, shall be exonerated and dis-
charged from all taxes and assessments which may
be at any time imposed by the authority of this
State, when and so long as the said lands or por-
tions thereof respectively, are, and shall remain the
property of the United States, and be used for the
purposes aforesaid.

In force.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
be of full force and effect from the first day of July,
eighteen hundred and sixty-six.

CHAPTER 69.

AN ACT to provide for repairing the old Jail of
Cecil county or the building of a new Jail, at
the discretion of the County Commissioners of
said county.
|
Authority to
build.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the county commissioners of
Cecil county he, and are hereby authorized and
empowered in their discretion, to build a new
county jail for said county, or to repair or rebuild
the old one.
|
Proposals.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the county
commissioners of Cecil county are hereby author-
ized to issue proposals, and make contracts for
repairing or rebuilding said old jail or for the build-
ing of a new one, as they may deem most proper,
and to make such levy or levies on the assessable
property of said county as may be necessary to
carry out the provisions of this act.
