Sec. 12. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
tate effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 56.

 

AN ACT supplementary to an Act, to incorporate
the Baltimore Hebrew Congregation,, passed at
December session eighteen hundred and thirty.

3, 1866.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That an addition to the ground or
land now held by the Baltimore Hebrew Congre-
gation in Baltimore city, and occupied as a Ceme-
tery, known and designated as parts of tracts re-
spectively called, Orange and Whitridge's, and
lying in Baltimore county, the said corporation is
hereby authorized to purchase, have and hold in
its corporate name, such additional ground or land
not exceeding fifty acres, adjoining the present
Cemetery as they may require, to be used exclu-
sively as a Cemetery or burial ground for said con-
gregation, and to enable the said corporation to pur-
chase said additional grounds and to enclose, pro-
tect and properly improve the same, they are here-
by authorized to execute a deed in their corporate
name by the issue of a corporate stock, not exceed-
ing one hundred thousand dollars, to be divided
into shares of twenty-five dollars each.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That books for sub-
scription to the said capital stock hereby author-
ized, shall be opened by the said electors at such
time, place and subject to such regulations as they
may prescribe and upon the bona fide subscription
of not less than one thousand shares, and the full
payment thereof, the said electors may proceed to
acquire by purchase, the grounds authorized by
this Act, in addition to and adjoining that now in
use and owned by the said corporation as a Ceme-
tery, to be employed and used only as a place of
