or disturbing the good order of the town, or in vio-

 

lation of any of the ordinances intended to secure

 

the safety of the lives or property of any of the

 

inhabitants of said town, or licensing traveling

 

showmen or exhibitors, the person or persons so

 

convicted may be committed to the jail of Carroll

 

county, or to some place of confinement provided

 

within the corporate limits of said town, by said

 

burgess or justice of the peace until the fine and

 

costs are paid, or for ten days, whichever shall first
