AN ACT to repeal and re-enact section twenty-
|
 
|
nine of chapter one hundred and fifty-one of
|
 
|
the act of eighteen hundred and seventy-two,
|
 
|
entitled "An act to incorporate the town of
|
 
|
Crisfield, in Somerset county," and the act of
|
 
|
eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, chapter
|
 
|
fifteen, repealing and re-enacting the same.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
 
|
of Maryland, That section twenty-nine of chapter
|
 
|
one hundred and fifty-one of the acts of the Gen-
|
 
|
eral Assembly of Maryland of the session of
|

re-enacted.

eighteen hundred and seventy-two, and the acts of
|
 
|
eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, chapter fif-
|
 
|
teen, be and the same are hereby repealed and re-
|
 
|
enacted so as to read as follows :
|
 
|
SEC. 29. That all persons charged with offences
|
 
|
against any of the provisions of this chapter, or
|
 
|
against any of the ordinances of the said commis-
|
 
|
sioners for the regulation and good government of
|
 
|
the town, shall be tried before a justice of the

peace of Crisfield district, in Somerset county,
|
 
|
who may fine the offender if he shall be adjudged
|
 
|
guilty, such sum as is prescribed by said ordi-
|
 
|
nances, not exceeding the amount authorized by
|
 
|
this chapter; and said person or persons may be
|
 
|
proceeded against by a summons for debt, as small
|
 
|
debts are recovered, or by a warrant in the name
|
 
|
of the State of Maryland, for the use of the Com-

missioners of Crisfield, in a proceeding criminal
|
 
|
in form as well as nature; and the said justice
|
 
|
may, in such cases as are begun by warrant as afore-
|
 
|
said, commit the party or parties adjudged to be
|
 
|
guilty of any of the offences as aforesaid, to the
|
 
|
town jail, till the fine and costs imposed therefor
|
 
|
shall be paid; and said fine or fines shall in either
|
 
|
case be paid to the said commissioners for the use
|
 
|
of the corporation; but said commissioners shall
|
 
|
have power to remit the said fine or imprisonment
|

or any part thereof, on cause shown; and either

party may appeal in any case to the Circuit Court
|
 
|
for Somerset county, and the laws relating to in-
|
 
|
