Chapter 465.

|
AN ACT for the better protection of partridges
|
 
|
in Carroll county.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
 
|
of Maryland, That it shall not be lawful for any
|
 
|
person or persons in Carroll county to shoot, kill
|
 
|
or in any manner destroy or trap any partridge or
|

passage of this act and the first day of November,

eighteen hundred and eighty-four; nor shall any
|

person during such period destroy or molest the

eggs or nests of said birds in said county.
|

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person vio-
|
 
|
lating the preceding section or any of its provi-
|
 
|
sions shall pay a fine of ten dollars for each and
|
 
|
every partridge so shot, killed, destroyed or in
|
 
|
any manner caught or trapped, or for any eggs or
|
 
|
nests so molested or destroyed, said fine or fines
|
 
|
to be recovered before a justice of the peace of
|
 
|
said county or by indictment in the circuit court
|

of said county, and in default of payment of the

fine or fines imposed hereunder, the offender shall

be committed to jail for not more than thirty days
|
 
|
for each offence, and the non-payment of each
|
 
|
and every fine shall be considered a separate

offence within the meaning hereof; one-half of all

said fines shall go to the informer, and the re-

mainder to the county commissioners of said
|
 
|
county, to be placed to the credit of the school
|
 
|
fund of said county.

|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the possession,
|
 
|
by any person within said county, of any part-

evidence of the commission of such offence as
