AN ACT to enable the qualified voters of certain
|
 
|
districts of Worcester county to determine by
|
 
|
ballot whether spirituous or fermented liquors
|
 
|
or alcoholic bitters shall be sold in said districts.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
 
|
of Maryland, That the question of whether or not
|
 
|
any person or persons, or any house, or any cor-
|
 
|
poration, may be licensed to sell spirituous or fer-
|

mented liquors or alcoholic bitters in the first,

second, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth districts

of Worcester county, shall be submitted to the
|
 
|
registered qualified voters of the said districts of
|
 
|
said county at a special election to be held on the
|
 
|
first Tuesday in April, in the year eighteen hundred
|
 
|
and eighty-three, in said districts, and the ballots
|
 
|
for or against such sale shall have printed or
|
 
|
written on them the words " For the sale of spirit-
|
 
|
uous or fermented liquors or alcoholic bitters," or
|

so cast shall be carefully counted by the judges of
|
 
|
said election, who shall, within three days there-
|
 
|
after, make a written return of such vote to the
|

clerk of the Circuit Court for Worcester county,
|
 
|
and said clerk shall record said returns among the
|
 
|
records of his office; and if it shall appear that
|
 
|
there shall have been cast a majority of votes in
|
 
|
said districts against the sale of spirituous or fer-
|
 
|
mented liquors, then the clerk of said court shall
