said certificate to be published once in each news-

 

paper published in said county.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the election

 

aforesaid shall be held in accordance with the pro-

 

visions of law governing general elections of this

 

State, and by judges appointed and qualified in

the manner directed by the laws governing each

 

general election; and notice of the same shall be

 

given in the ordinary mode as now prescribed by

 

law; and all existing provisions of law in regard

 

to bribing voters, and in regard to selling, barter-

 

ing, giving or disposing of spirituous or fermented

 

liquors, ale or beer, or intoxicating drinks of any

 

kind on election day, shall be applied to the

 

election authorized by this act.

 

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if it shall appear

 

by the returns of said judges of election, and

 

certificate of the clerk of said court, that a major-

 

ity of all the votes cast in said six districts of

Majority
against sale.

Worcester county at said special election have

 

been cast against the sale of spirituous or fer-

 

mented liquors or alcoholic bitters, then it shall

 

not be lawful for any person or persons or body

 

corporate to sell, directly or indirectly, at any

 

place in said districts, or to give away at his, her

 

or their place of business, any spirituous or fer-

 

mented liquors or alcoholic bitters, or other in-

 

toxicating drinks of any kind, nor shall any license

 

be issued or granted for the same in said districts

 

on or after the first day of May, in the year

 

eighteen hundred and eighty-three.

 

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if it shall appear

 

by said returns and said certificate of said clerk,

 

that a majority of all the votes cast in said dis-

 

tricts at said special election has been cast against

 

the sale of spirituous or fermented liquors, or

 

alcoholic bitters, if any person or persons or body

 

corporate shall sell, directly or indirectly, at any

 

place in said districts, or give away at his, her or

 

their place of business, any spirituous or fermented

 

liquors, or alcoholic bitters, or intoxicating drinks

 

of any kind, on or after the first day of May, in
