county, to aid in the erection of a Monument to

the memory of Major Otho H. Williams, of
|
 
|
Revolutionary renown.

|
WHEREAS the late Major Otho H. Williams
|
 
|
served with great distinction and renown during the
|
 
|
Revolutionary war between Great Britain and the
|
 
|
Colonies, as a Colonian officer, and his services were
|
 
|
a credit to the State of Maryland, the place of his
|
 
|
nativity; and, whereas, the remains of the said Otho
|
 
|
H. Williams lie in the Williamsport cemetery un-
|

marked save by a common and ordinary stone, the
|
 
|
lettering upon which has worn out with age, and it
|
 
|
is only proper that the State should take some steps
|
 
|
to secure a monument whereby the deeds performed
|
 
|
by him in the cause of human liberty shall be kept

alive in the hearts and memory of his fellow citizens,
|
 
|
therefore —
