AN ACT to authorize the Board of Public Works

of this State, having charge of the State Fishery
|
 
|
Force, to build or purchase a proper vessel for dis-
|
 
|
trict number one as named in chapter one hun-
|
 
|
dred and ninety-eight of the acts of eighteen
|
 
|
hundred and eighty, known as the Oyster Law.
|
 
|
WHEREAS the sloop Mary Compton, of the State
|
 
|
Fishery Force, on district number one of the waters
|
 
|
of the Chesapeake bay and tributaries, is in such
|
 
|
condition that to repair the same would be as ex-
|
 
|
pensive as to build or purchase a new vessel; and
|

whereas the present condition of said sloop is such

|
that she is not only unfit for such service, but un-
|
 
|
safe for the officers and crew therein; and whereas
|
 
|
the Board of Public Works have no authority to
|
 
|
purchase or build a new vessel; therefore —

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

|
bly of Maryland, That the Board of Public Works
|
 
|
are hereby authorized and directed to build or pur-
